Description   Jumbo Coenobita clypeatus (Purple Pincher). All of the Jumbo crabs we sell have been extensively handled and are accustomed to receiving hand fed treats. Once you get to this size crab, you need to be keeping 12 inches of moist sand in your tank. A general rule for this size of crab is to allow at least 5 gallons of space for each crab. A 65 gallon tank (36L x 18W x 24D) works well to accommodate them during the 3 months or so that they remain buried while molting. Jumbo - Purple Pincher) October 30, 2009 Reviewer: Grant from NY United States   I ordered 2 on June 2, 2008 (Now Oct. 30, 2009). They arrived, packed superbly and in perfect condition - antennae active and not shy at all. Acclimated to captivity and healthy as advertised! And that is the case still.
